Hi,
Sorry about that, I fat fingered the send button and was too tired to update.
I was teaching a new guy the basics of 40k, and these two armies are a great way to do it.
Terminators try to get across the field, and Necrons shoot them to bits.
Next game we play will have Mech elements, so the Necrons (who I'll probably play) can suck it up and figure out how fun glancing tanks to death is.
Is it sad Necrons have more reliable shooting than Orks but still can't kill shit because of their total lack of a decent CC element?
Hey I know--Pariahs! I should get some. ;)
This is my 2k worth of BT, and 2.5k worth of Necrons. Note all the Necrons really get for that 2k is another Warrior squad and a Lord. Oooh, powerful.

Necrons need cover way more than Termies. Duh.
Also, Necron troops are shitty so it doesn't matter if they die (Except for the whole Phase Out thing).
I see more about "how to put terrain" in here.
I like the destroyer on the pillar in the back. Yay true line of sight!!!
Jesus is that... is that TWENTY-FOUR god damn terminators? Jesus christ! Is that even necessary? Is that even good?
Other than that, I notice there are basically NO vehicles. At all. Not even a rhino. :( Makes me sad.
Necrons vs foot Marines? They might actually have a chance, then. Reg Destroyers scythe troops down like wheat....
Before an attack of the obvious, I know that Troops are needed for getting objectives. But that look like Dawn of War.
God, I'm in a "No shit, Sherlock" roll.
necrons outnumber BT?
wtf? :-P
This game is over before it even starts. Unless the Necrons make some brutal errors there is no way they should lose.
Hmm... something tells me that this wasn't supposed to be posted yet.
I'm going to guess that this is your usual Terminator BT list, correct? Short of the Destroyers, everything else is in shooting distance of each other, so it should be a bloodbath once they advance close enough.
Just teach?
Well, considering it was my very first game of 40K Stelek gave me quite the handicap. The Necron force is 2500, the BT force is 2000. And yes, the Necrons won handily in the Kill Point scenario.
Just teach = just teaching me how to play. ;)
Thanks again Stelek.
Wait... so you had 500pts more army than Stelek, and he was playing Black Templars... and you won on Kill Points?
This is good. I'm like much, yes!
Hmm.
It could be cool to have an ongoing series with you (Dan), like some sort of development chronicle, if you guys wanted to put in the time. Just stuff like player development, thoughts, the usual good batreps and analysis. Would be interesting to see how you develop in 40k since (no offense) it seems as though you're a blank slate and getting some lessons by someone who has a concrete grasp of the game in pretty much every sense. Seems like it'd be a good thing to have for brand/very new players to read through.
Hell I'd read it just for fun if nothing else.
The mighty Stelek beaten!
I'm telling BoLS!
I just want to know why that destroyer is on top of that pillar hahaha
@ Tseug: It took turbo boosting too literally...
@ Dezzo
Stelek lost! Everything he says is immediately invalidated.
@ Chumbalaya: And he shall be banned from this website!
Ooooh there's gonna be a 12-inch headline in block caps on BoLS and Dakka today.... :P
This is the second time he's lost a game this month, I might add.
Melta sucks. Throw your Razorbacks in the bin. Orks are great. I am disillusioned. Time to break out the dual-Lash Oblits list again.
The article series would actually be pretty fun. I'm game if Stelek is. I can cross-post it to my website/blog as well. youngwolf7.com
We've already discussed what to bring out next time. Both armies were deliberate choices on his part. Since it was a new game to a new player he avoided adding vehicles so that we could focus on troop movement and combat. Next game we'll add a couple of vehicles for a semi-mech force and work up from there.
The Destroyer was on top of the pillar to get LOS on the Termie unit.
I have no doubt that had he actually been trying to win (and not giving me tactical advice every step of the way) that he would have crushed me easily despite the handicap. He did curse my dice more than once though. ;) (I may be limited to using only house dice from now on rather than my own. :D )
Fear the almighty footdar!
I got tabled, actually. Suck on that one.
You cannot teach new players the game by kicking their ass.
Learning the mechanics properly and slowly, is a very good way of doing it.
Losing, and hopefully graciously (despite the sheer number of 20 shots/17 hits/15 wounds crap he managed all game lol ;) ) makes it even more likely you can get the other guy to not just play again...but invest in the game system.
Yes Dan, you get the cursed dice from my 2nd Sisters of Battle army. Man did those girls blow. lol
Oh and I'm game, I think I might even do a video batrep next game. ;)
Tseug: Man, that pic is all kinds of wrong. Good wrong, but still wrong. O:-)
Fair enough. I was actually feeling bad by mid-game about the dice rolls. I've been told that my dice rolling ability tends to run above average. Even moreso with my dreaded black dice.
And yes, you were very gracious about losing and feeding every last BT to the Necron menace. ;)
It's those weighted dice he gave you to play with.
The Necrons are menacing indeed. Until Rhinos show up.
;)
I don't mind dice rolls, everyone I play says I have a null field. You'll see. lol
Loring: He brought his own weighted dice and refused my carefully cooked ones. So I lost. Darnit. ;)
Stelek helping new ppl? I thought he was a jerk?!?
Oh and also he lost. Lolubad!
Shhh I even invited a complete stranger into my house for a game. Yeah, my wife looked at me funny. lol
I personally would very much like to see a serie as previously suggested :)
We've both aggreed to do the series. What should we call it though? It needs a catchy title. Bootcamp with Stelek or something like that.
how about "Stelek: Dispelling the Myth?"
Truth: Not as painful as advertised.
Stelek's Imaginary Friend Who He Posts As Under His Alt Account To Hide The Terribly Fact That He Never Plays 40k?
lol
I was thinking something along the lines of "Form vs. Function", but working Truth into the title would be appropriate. :)
