Hey Stelek,

This is Timmah, who posts kinda actively on your blog.
I decided to start up my own blog and started with some comments on your Maximum overdrive list and a hybrid version of it.
Thought I would just ask what you think of it.

Thanks,
Tim

Add Yahoo to your blog posting verification thingey, or just get every option Stelek has as I couldn't respond to the list on your blog so here is the response below:

I'd like to point out a slight error in your post:
That totals:

21 Missile Launchers
4 Lascannons
2 Multi-Meltas
4 TL-Plasma Guns
6 Hunter-Killer Missiles

You basically swap 5 lascannons for 2 Multi Meltas and 9 extra Missile shots. Plus you add to your firepower with 6 hunter-killer missiles.
You're forgetting the 5 Twin-linked Plasmaguns you are replacing also. The difference is significant against a TH+SS Terminator unit running at you because forcing massed 3++ saves against massed plasma at short range is far better then forcing 2+ saves against maxed missiles. They also do a fair wack of damage to MC's as well...In all an interesting variation.

I do like that people aren't just taking the Critical Mass Overdrive list and using it straight as a whole across the world and that many of us have developed our game up to a point that we are all contributing ideas to expand or make the force different.

Now a weakness of your list is that 2 of the 3 LF units are NOT inside that highly effective Mobile Bunker giving mobility to fire but also a higher True Line of Sight. My advice to you would be to drop at least 3 LF's with ML's to get 2 Rhino's. I'd probably go as far as to drop 4 more LF's with ML's to get a Rune Priest with Living Lightning added for more medium anti-mech at range. Another Trick for the Dreads is to replace the DCCW with a twin-linked Autocannon, it thus gives youa mobile fire platform that can also hold up big units as a Dread does anyway, but also gives options for people who run split flank deployments, take out one flank and then you have the range to hit the other each turn as you advance. This Hybrid Rifle/Melta-man Dread has added alot of versatility to my own games. :)

All the best,

Auretious Taak.
