Eddie again but this time it's Fantasy. I play dwarves and our usual games are 2250 points. What do you think is the most competitive way to run dwarfs?
My list atm, roughly (because i don't have a copy of my list or book handy..)
The "chunky" dwarf lord
Thane BSB
Runesmith
2x 24 warriors
23 longbeards
8x bolt thrower
2x organ gun
And plenty of runes around the place

Use Gimli on His Pony, the Santa Sleighs, and any short Hobbit-like Wizardly Gnome-Folk you can find. The Princess Pony army is a good way to go with Dwarves.
Oh, you were being serious.
Oh.

3. ???
4. No Profit
5. Get new army
Totally. The way the Princess Pony shifts Dumbledore from Rare to Special is awesome. Totally worth spamming him.
Though, imho, any army that doesn't contain Bruce Campel is auto-lose against undead.
Well, as much as Stelek loves dwarves and he loves adepticrap, here are the the two theory lists I would take to the two good tournies they run.

<p>And yes they are anvil gunline lists, because I think any other list can be done better by another armybook, so might as well do what dwarves excel at.
Ah, my beloved and maligned Dwarves. I will get around to writing about them after I finish my massive undertaking with the Lizards.
Suffice to say, Dwarf Lord is pretty much insta-fail. I don't care how nasty, how resilient, or how beardy you think he is. I don't care what you've got supporting him. He's M3. He couldn't catch my chain-smoking grandmother at that speed. Anyone and everyone will just avoid him until they're ready to beat the hell out of him.
But but...you can use the Anvil to move Dwarves around. It's "cheesy".
lololol
No, it's "beardy"!
See? It's sarcastic, kind of British, AND a pun!
lollerball
Hey Eddie-
Swap out the artillery with some Dogs of War Ogre Leadbelchers and try out some of their other merc choices, like a unit of Bulls, Ironguts, or even Maneaters. Pricey, I know, but they went a long way towards solving a few mobility problems my army had. While a 15-strong unit of Slayers held some Blood Dragon cavalry in place, I was able to rip through their flank with unit of three Maneaters.
Now that's beardy.
Ya, I'd love to do the Dwarf thing, not because I really like WHFB that much, but just because there's some cool modeling and painting I want to do with non-GW models. But at the end of the day, I can not justify putting the work into a list that is so gimped against so many popular builds/armies. Thorek, as many bolt throwers as you can fit, and some bricks of Longbeards with scout. whoopdedo.
Don't forget the LD10 hero with the keg. He's actually good. Too bad the list is so pathetically bad...
Yeah you have to take Thorek and Bugman to have any chance, then some bolt throwers.
Beat face against wall repeatedly, control rage as deamon and HE players tell you how beardy your army is, quit the game.
That is a competetive dwarf list.
