So, another interesting email.
What do you think of this, Stelek? Do you think you've retrained your brain?

I only ask as I'm writing a paper on gamers who have focused so much on gaming they become savants at their craft, and I'd like to know what you think of this. I've seen many people write lists for 40k but none like you. I've included some questions, if you don't mind could you answer them?
Thank you,
Girard

Well, I answered the questions and sent them back to you. I don't know, but I think so. After I had a bit of surgery, I was having a hell of a time grasping anything new. Lasted about 8 months. I had to talk to a lot of specialists about this, trying to figure out what to do.
In the end, my doctor talked to a neurotherapist, not normally what you'd expect but he's a very good doctor and went to great lengths to help me, and the neurotherapist told me to play a slightly different kind of game, and hopefully my brain would re-wire itself on its own.
I did what they suggested, and eventually--my brain did fix the damage done, and my 'gift' re-appeared as if it had never left.
I hope that, and my other answers, helps you in some way.

I'd love to know these questions, and/or read your paper if you would share it when finished please.
Scott: You know it's not me but someone else, yes? I sent your comment to him, and asked permission to publish the questions on your behalf.
Yeah I know, I'm not as dense as I let on :)
Also your answers to the questions would be interesting to read as well.
It's your last name that gave you away, actually. :-P
Oh you mean the amalgamation of 2 of my high school friends names'.
Scott Bass + Drew Megimose = Scott Megimose I keep getting credit cards for him too.
Oiy. :-E
Was Girard's paper directed at all sorts of gamers or just tabletop gamers? I'd be curious about them myself as in so far as a handful of MMO's I've done exceedingly well before moving on (hey when you are thinking about NOTHING else except the game and your life is starting to suffer in rl it's time to shift regardless of what people say to try and keep you around) and froma purely academic point of view I'm intrigued.
Cheers,
Auretious Taak.
Every time you learn something new or make some change in your own behavior you are in effect "re-training the mind."
Not sure, Taak.
