Hi Stelek, Linred here.
I've been a (french) 40K player for a while and one day discovered your blog. Needless to say it helped much to better understand the game. But for now I want to play WHFB and decided to begin with High Elves.
I tried to make a build, following your advices for WHFB: Magic, Shooting and CC and using your High Elves list.
I came with this but I still don't know what to take and how to run it for the CC part. I know High elves have a good elite infantry and 6 special slots to fill. But I'm not good enough to use your (former) High elves list with its 6 men-formations of Hoeth/White lions/PG.
So could you give me any advices for filling the CC slot of this list ?

First, you don't want Standard Bearers on your Spearmen units. They should be protecting your mages with bodies, not fighting if they don't have to.
While 4 Bolt Thowers is nice, High Elves use them as utility weapons. Same as your Mages really. I think 3 Bolt Throwers and taking Teclis instead of all those mages would be your better bet.
Both can deal damage, but it's in CC with your high WS, high S, and ASF that you excel.
Personally, I think Phoenix Guard, Sword Masters, and White Lions are excellent units.
You want to run say 6 or 7 in front, with a unit champion (only) and the rest behind to take casualties. 9-12 should be the number you want to aim for in those units.
I think having two of each unit is ideal, as they each do different things for your army.
I hope that helps.
